Hulkenberg dissatisfied with speed on Soft tiresSeptember 1, 2019
Daniel Riccardo showed ninth time in a second workout at the Spa. The Australian is satisfied with the settings, and Nico Hulkenberg noted the strange behavior of RS19 on Soft tires.
Daniel Riccardo (9th): “Good day – I’m glad to get behind the wheel again. The break was not too long, we quickly returned to the working rhythm. I finished both sessions in the top ten – a good start, but I think we can add more.
In the second session, we failed to achieve the progress we were counting on – there is still work to do. The track is good, the weather is excellent – let’s see what happens. ”
Nico Hulkenberg (13th): “We had a good first session, but the second was a bit strange. The car drove worse on Soft tires – you need to understand what it is connected with. We need to work on speed in a short and long series – the usual tasks during the weekend. It’s great after a break to get behind the wheel on this magnificent track. ”
Nick Chester, Technical Director: “Today we have made good progress working on the aerodynamic balance and settings of both cars, collecting information about the Medium and Soft tires. So far, it has not been possible to achieve the optimal balance: Nico did not add Soft on the tires in the second training session, so we will check his car to find the reason.
On the Medium tires at the beginning of the second training, the riders looked pretty good. In the second session, Daniel’s pace on a long series of laps was good, so tomorrow we need to focus on speed on a fast lap. ”
