Huge VW Touareg R rides almost like a cool supercarOctober 5, 2020
A video appeared on the YouTube channel Automann-TV, which captured a 5.3-second sprint of the “charged” Touareg R crossover up to 100 km / h. Despite the heavy weight and considerable size of this crossover, it can demonstrate excellent dynamic characteristics.
Volkswagen Touareg is the largest car in the model range of the German brand, which received a more powerful version with the R prefix. And I must say that this car is very powerful and fast, despite its dimensions and rather heavy weight.
Under the hood of the “charged” Touareg R crossover is a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is based on a 3.0-liter petrol V6 with 335 hp. It is complemented by a 134-horsepower electric motor. Taken together, the hybrid unit produces 456 hp. (700 Nm).
Thanks to its powerful hardware, the powerful version of the midsize crossover can effortlessly accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in about five seconds.
As you can see on the video published from the YouTube channel Automann-TV, the Touareg R in real conditions can accelerate to 100 kph in 5.3 seconds. As for the sprint from 100 to 200 km / h, the Touareg was able to cope with this task in 12.8 seconds.
Considering that the Touareg R captured in the video weighs 2,350 kg and is equipped with wide 22-inch wheels, these figures were an impressive achievement.
It is worth noting that the Touareg R is the first model in the VW R family to have a plug-in hybrid powertrain and can travel in electric mode at speeds of up to 140 km / h.
