How do you find the amazing Audi Steppenwolf crossover concept?April 10, 2019
The German crossover was introduced in 2000 at the Paris Motor Show – this is exactly what a crossover could look like, based on the TT sports model.
At the turn of the century, the German premium brand Audi introduced the conceptual crossover Steppenwolf, under the hood of which was a 3.2-liter V6 engine with a capacity of 225 hp. (320 Nm of the moment), which was connected to the all-wheel drive Quattro, 6-speed manual gearbox. In addition, the then new product boasted air suspension.
Currently, the company management is seriously considering the possibility of completely abandoning the TT sports coupe, so the concept Steppenwolf, which in essence was a version of the TT model of those times, only on stilts, can decide the future of a cult car.
Nowadays, when crossovers of all shapes and sizes have captured the automotive world, some will say that the sports TT watches are numbered. But Audi was determined to create a fourth-generation model – CEO Bram Shot expressed a desire to preserve the model. In an interview with Autocar, Audi’s head said it would try to find a way to create a budget for the new TT, adding that it has “some things that can replace TTs and can become the TT of the future.”
Can we talk about the crossover? May be. About 20 years ago, Audi first began to “play with the idea” about giving the TT a higher ground clearance. This 3-door concept was largely based on the original TT and was designed with both a rigid carbon fiber roof and a removable fabric roof.
