How can look like the flagship crossover Opel: published a renderApril 23, 2018
A few days ago, the once close to Opel brand Buick introduced the electric concept car Enspire, which outlined the design concept of the future model, as well as something told about its power plant. But electricity electricity is a matter of far days. Opel plans to have a new flagship crossover, which will be presented in about two years. The famous 3D-visualizer Ascariss Design is confident that the German crossover will look something like this.
Judging by the render, the future flagship of Opel in the crossover segment can get a swift appearance, a coupe-like body and combine the features of the Midsize Grandland and the presented Buick Enspire concept. Also, some features of the Opel Monza concept car presented five years ago can be seen.
What is known about the future flagship of Opel? Firstly, it will be produced at the facilities of the Opel plant in Rüsselsheim. But after the purchase of Opel by the PSA Group, the model will lose almost all the brand-name developments of the German brand, since the crossover will probably be built on the basis of the EMP2 platform, which underlies such models as the Peugeot 3008, 5008 and Citroen C5 Aircross. As for the engines, in this respect, everything is still vague. The flagship model of Opel, if it will be built on the EMP2 platform, will be limited to a 1,6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder Prince with a payout of around 200-270 horsepower, as for this platform Peugeot does not yet offer more powerful engines. Focus on the characteristics of the 550-horsepower electric engine concept car Buick is not worth it, because this brand, as already mentioned above, now belongs to General Motors, and its crossover will have a completely different “stuffing”.
