Hot Opel Corsa GSi receive a new engine

After the entry of Opel into the alliance of Peugeot Citroen, the German brand will for several years transfer its models to the French modular platform EMP2. But this is a matter of far days. Last month, Opel introduced the dynamic Corsa hatchback in the GSi modification, without mentioning anything about its engine. Finally, this gap was eliminated, but the admirers of the brand of its characteristics are unlikely to surprise.

In a published press release, Opel said that under the hood of the hatchback installed turbocharged “four” with a volume of 1.4 liters with a capacity of 150 horsepower, the torque of the motor reaches 220 Nm. On the engine code Opel does not say anything, but we can assume that this is a Euro 6d-TEMP engine upgraded to environmental standards with the B14XFT index, which is characterized by a geometry of 74×81.3 mm and direct fuel injection.

The compression ratio of this engine is 10 units, and for the first time it appeared three years ago on the Astra K hatchback. With this engine, the Corsa GSi can accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in 8.9 seconds, and the maximum speed of a compact but sturdy car is 207 kilometers per hour. This engine will work with a six-speed manual gearbox, which was shortened to improve the dynamic characteristics.

In city mode, the Corsa GSi with this power plant will consume 7.8-7.9 liters of fuel, in a mixed cycle fuel consumption will be 6.2-6.3 liters per 100 km.

However, it’s not the only motor: the hatchback got a sports suspension from the OPC version, thanks to which its behavior in corners will improve. The question is only the smoothness of the course on bad roads, because the car will be “worn out” in cast wheels 215/40 R18.

Pictures of the salon brand has not yet been published, but there is no doubt that there are installed leather seats Recaro, the same material is trimmed with a curtain, a sports steering wheel is installed.

On the European market, the “fresh” Opel Corsa GSi will be released later this year, the cost of the hatchback has not yet been announced.
