Hot hatch Hyundai i30 N added extremeSeptember 10, 2019
Hyundai introduced a new version of the “charged” hatchback i30 N, dubbed Project C. The premiere of the car, which received the clad design and reconfigured suspension, took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The name of the novelty echoes the test track “Area C”, located in the research center in South Korean Namyang. I30 N Project C has acquired a new aerodynamic “plumage” of carbon fiber, including a front splitter, a rear diffuser and side “skirts”. In addition, a hood is made of composite materials.
In addition, the hot hatch received 19-inch OZ-Racing racing wheels, as well as front sports “buckets” with a carbon fiber frame. As a result, the mass of the car decreased by 50 kilograms compared to a standard car.
Ground clearance decreased by 6 mm, and the center of gravity became lower by 8.8 mm due to new shock absorber settings and the use of reduced springs. In addition, the engineers made adjustments to the operation of driver algorithms for Sport and N modes.
The power unit has not undergone changes. Hyundai i30 N is equipped with a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which in the top version of the car develops 275 hp. and 353 Nm of torque (temporarily increased to 378 Nm when the Overboost function is enabled).
The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Such a hot hatch as standard is able to accelerate to the first 100 kph in 6.1 seconds, and its maximum speed is limited to 250 km per hour.
