Honda revived Passport name for new crossoverNovember 28, 2018
Honda has unveiled a new large crossover at the Los Angeles motor show, which revived the Passport name. Under this name, since the 1990s, the Japanese brand has produced a coupe, which was a converted version of the Isuzu Rodeo.
The overall length of the car was 4826 mm, and the size of the wheelbase is 2794 millimeters. Thus, in the model lineup of the Honda Passport will take place between the CR-V crossover and the three-row Pilot. New created on the chassis of Global Light Truck and shares most of the components and assemblies with the models Pilot and Ridgeline. A McPherson type suspension was applied to the front, and a multi-link at the back.
The luggage compartment can accommodate up to 1,166 liters of cargo, and when the rear row of seats is folded, which is removed thanks to the electric drive, its capacity increases to 2,205 liters. In addition, in the luggage compartment floor there is an additional compartment of 71 liters.
Honda Passport is equipped with a single 3.5-liter atmospheric V6 petrol engine, developing 283 hp and 354 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. As an option, a full hardening system is available, which is capable of transferring up to 70% of torque to the rear axle.
Honda Passport will be available multimedia system with an eight-inch touch screen and support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto, as well as a Wi-Fi access point. In the list of electronic systems: adaptive cruise control, the system of keeping the car in the occupied lane, as well as the function of the circular view.
In the US, sales of the Honda Passport crossover will begin next year. Prices for new items are not yet called.
