Honda patented a new hatchbackFebruary 20, 2020
Patent images of an unknown and completely new hatchback from Honda appeared.
These three patent images show a completely new model from Honda, a compact hatchback that doesn’t look like a full C-segmenter. Nevertheless, we believe that Honda will add a new product to its international range in the foreseeable future.
In late November, Honda introduced a completely new generation of City in Thailand. The front panel, doors and windows of this hatchback completely coincide with those of this relatively compact sedan, which means that we are probably dealing with a new urban model.
The arrival of the new citycar was unexpected. Previous generations of the sedan shared their technical base with the Honda Jazz, and a completely new platform has recently been introduced to the new generation of this car. It also means that a citycar, which in other markets is called Ballade (South Africa), Greiz (China) or Grace (Japan), is helping a new generation.
However, it is noteworthy that Honda expands the Jazz-based model family with a regular five-door hatchback. He was not there before. Honda, however, has compact Jazz-based crossovers such as HR-V, WR-V and even liftback (Gienia) and MPV (Freed) in the international “menu”.
Although the front panel of this new Honda is identical to the nose of the new City, the rear design is more like cars like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A1. What will be called the novice Honda, is not yet known. Like City, this hatchback is likely to be equipped with the all-new 1.0-liter 122-horsepower three-cylinder engine, which will also find a place in the new Jazz outside of Europe.
