Honda Company organized a race between a professional racer and a gamer to demonstrate how real the world of racing is close to virtual. In this case, the driver in the real world, thanks to the technology of mixed reality, could see the “ghost” of his opponent’s car.
The race was attended by the pilot of the IndyCar series Graham Rahal and professional gamer Peter “the SLAPtrain” Jakins. They both went to the Civic Type R on the “Road Atlanta” race track, only Jakins used the Forza Motorsport 7 video game.
On Rahal’s car, special equipment was installed, which in real time showed the position and maneuvers of the Jakins machine on the windshield.
The hatch hatch Honda Civic Type R is equipped with a two-liter 4-cylinder turbo of the VTEC Turbo family, the output of which is 320 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is combined only with a six-speed manual gearbox.
