Honda is changing its views on the market: the reduction of a third of models and cooperation with companiesMay 9, 2019
The company decided to radically reconsider the approach to the development of its own business around the world. Already by 2025, the model line will be reduced by a third, by this time a new approach to the development of cars will be ready and cooperation with other companies will be established.
On the eve of a large and important press conference in the Tokyo headquarters of Honda. The head of the company, Takahiro Hatigo, spoke about important changes in the near future. First of all, it was noted that the majority of world sales accounted for only five models Fit / Jazz, Civic, Accord, Vezel / HR-V and CR-V. Therefore, a third of the model line will be reduced.
For this, the company will divide all countries of presence into six separate regions according to approximate demand and preference. After that, analysts will check the most profitable models for each region and exclude the most costly and unprofitable options.
Of course, like all global manufacturers, Honda is actively seeking electrification. To this end, it will enter into agreements on cooperation and create a joint venture. In China, the strategic partner will be the GAC, and for the American market the possibility of working with GM is being considered.
In addition, the company is developing a single “platform” for all models. That will speed up the development of new cars by 30%.
