Honda introduced an updated version of the city sedan CityNovember 25, 2019
The Japanese company introduced a new generation of compact sedan City. The machine, which will be positioned as a novelty in the 2020 model year, will go on sale on December 24 this year.
For the first time, a small Honda City sedan was introduced in the distant 80s of the last century – this is me in that it is one of the oldest models of the brand. Now the car has finally got its new generation. The car received many changes both inside and out.
The exterior style is a subtle evolution of the already familiar exterior of the predecessor, in addition, the automakers decided to add some elements from the current Civic.
The new City is 113 mm longer and 53 mm wider than its predecessor – the length is now 4,553 mm and the width is 1,748 mm. The car has become 10 mm lower, and its wheelbase is shortened by 11 mm and is now 2,589 mm. According to the assurances of representatives of the Japanese automaker, the car now boasts a higher level of noise and vibration isolation thanks to the use of polyurethane aerosol foam and a shorter engine.
Sedan City 2020 model year received a completely new dashboard design. Despite the shorter wheelbase, the rear passengers have enough legroom. In fact, Honda says the saloon has become more spacious than before, as a result of the switch to the same platform on which the new Jazz / Fit hatchback is built.
As the base engine for the new City, a turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine is used that can offer the same torque as a larger, naturally aspirated 1.8-liter unit and higher performance than a 1.5-liter engine. A small 1.0-liter unit was connected to a seven-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) and boasts 120 horsepower.
The fifth-generation Honda City’s official presentation will be held this Friday at the 36th Thailand International Automobile Fair in 2019, after which the car will go on sale initially in Thailand from December 24th.
