Top Gear magazine held an unusual drag race: in a straight-line race, they compared a hot hatch Honda Civic Type R and a Land Rover Defender SUV in the anniversary version of Works V8. The first car is equipped with a two-liter turbo four, the second – a 5.0-liter engine.
Released in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Land Rover “Defender” with a motor capacity of 405 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque is able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The maximum speed of an SUV is 170 kilometers per hour. The Works V8 version is equipped with an eight-band automatic transmission with ZF with a switching speed of 200 milliseconds and four-wheel drive with three differentials.
The Honda Civic Type R, which has a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine installed under its hood, accelerates from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in 5.7 seconds. The maximum speed of a hot hatch is 272 kilometers per hour. The list of equipment Civic Type R includes a six-speed manual transmission, adaptive suspension and a system for selecting driving modes.
Another unusual race took place in October. Porsche 911 GT2 RS and experimental Audi RS3 from the electric drive took part in it. In this case, the latter was moving in reverse.
