Charged hatchback Honda Civic Type R set another speed record with a series of cars with front-wheel drive
Charged “hatchback Honda Civic Type R set a record for the British track Silverstone among the production cars with front-wheel drive. Hot hatch was able to pass the track in 2 minutes and 31.32 seconds.
The car was driven by racer Matt Neal – three-time winner of the British championship in body racing BTCC. The pilot noted the stability of the car when cornering at high speeds, which led to the use of improved suspension and modified aerodynamic elements.
Previously Honda Civic Type R set a record on the Belgian track Spa-Francorchamps. Hot hatch was able to drive a circle on the track in 2 minutes and 53.72 seconds. In addition, the Honda Civic Type R is the record for front-wheel drive cars at the French Magny-Cours, as well as the Northerner loop of the Nürburgring in Germany. The last track hot hatch was able to pass for 7 minutes and 43.8 seconds.
Charged hatchback is equipped with a two-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, developing 320 hp. and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The hatch is able to gain the first 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and its maximum speed is 272 km per hour.
