Honda Civic Type R gets two new versionsFebruary 20, 2020
Honda adds two new variations of the Civic Type-R to its range. A hot hatch is now available as a Limited Edition and a new Sport Line.
Honda has developed a limited version for the absolute top version of the Civic line. Civic Type-R will also be available soon as Type-R Limited Edition. This version, which is limited to 100 copies for the European market, is more than just a special publication on which some badges are scattered.
The Civic Type-R Limited Edition stands on the lightweight 20-inch BBS wheels shod with Michelin Cup 2 tires. Honda has adjusted damping and steering to ensure that steering sensitivity is as high as possible. To save weight, Honda not only saved the hatchback from the infotainment system and air conditioning, but also used fewer insulation materials on the roof, tailgate, front bumper and dashboard. According to the developers, this saved 47 kg compared to the Type-R GT and left the back seat.
A special version with Sunlight Yellow coating has a darker designation on the rear panel, and elements such as a roof, side mirror covers and an air intake on the hood are made in black. The interior features red sports seats, a red Alcantara-covered steering wheel, and a dedicated gear knob to provide a “continuation of the Limited Edition” party at the Civic.
For the performance of the Honda Civic Type-R Limited Edition meets the 2.0-liter engine with 320 hp. and 400 Nm, which is transmitted to the front wheels. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h “hot Japanese” carries out in 5.7 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the original. The Civic Type-R Limited Edition will be available in Europe this summer.
More news is associated with the release of the new Type-R Sport Line. The new set-top box adds the usual Type-R a slightly more modest look, and comfort increases slightly. This version dispenses with the upstream rear spoiler, which Honda sets much lower at the top. In addition, red accents on the side skirts are also absent in this version.
Civic Type-R Sport Line received a set of 19-inch wheels made of dark light alloy and is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sports 4S tires with softer cheeks. Together with additional insulating material in the trunk and in the tailgate, this should provide a quieter interior. Details such as sports seats, black with red stitching, will still be present.
