Hitachi organizes the production of electric motors in the United StatesSeptember 9, 2020
Financial and industrial group Hitachi plans to start production of motors for electric vehicles at its new plant in Kentucky. This was reported by the company’s press service.
Hitachi intends to develop and manufacture power units for electric vehicles at Hitachi Automotive Electric Motor Systems America, established in August this year. The office and production facilities are located in Bury, Kentucky. Previously, they belonged to a related company Hitachi Automotive Systems. The territory of the enterprise covers an area of approximately 260 thousand m2, and production had to be postponed until 2022 due to the coronavirus epidemic.
According to Hitachi, “the establishment of the new company will strengthen the manufacturer’s position in the expanding electric vehicle market and the growing demand for electric motors for them in the United States.” Interestingly, exactly 110 years ago, the history of Hitachi began with the production of electric motors.
It is worth noting that Hitachi is not the first Japanese company to decide to take advantage of the growing demand for electric motors. Earlier this year, Yamaha announced its plans to produce electric motors, introducing an engine for electric vehicles and motorcycles. This engine is capable of developing power from 47 to 270 hp. depending on the version and object of application.
