Hengchi 1 electric sedan production begins in ChinaDecember 1, 2020
Evergrande’s all-electric luxury sedan is dubbed the Hengchi H1 and is part of the company’s line of electric vehicles in China. It is reported that mass production of the Hengchi 1 will begin next year.
China Evergrande Group is the world’s largest real estate developer. Last March, the company said it would become “the world’s largest and strongest electric vehicle group in the next 3-5 years,” and talked about the vehicles it plans to launch.
The first will be the Hengchi 1 D-segment luxury sedan, which was designed by Anders Warming, a former Mini, BMW and Borgward specialist. Renders of the car show a front end devoid of the traditional grille with dominant narrow LED headlights. Hengchi 1 is equipped with huge wheels, hidden door handles and rear view cameras instead of mirrors.
In addition to the Hengchi 1, which has already been piloted in the PRC, the Evergrande range will be joined by five other Hengchi 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Hengchi 2 is a B-segment luxury sedan, Hengchi 3 is a large luxury SUV, Hengchi 4 – 7-seater minivan, and models 5 and 6 – will represent the SUV segment.
Images and details of Hengchi’s new arrivals came just after Evergrande announced that it was preparing to sell shares on the mainland to fund its line of electric vehicles. The company plans to list 1.556 billion shares with a total value of over $ 4.7 billion on the Shanghai STAR Market.
