Head of Jaguar Land Rover SVO will create electric cars in ChinaSeptember 19, 2019
New startups for the production of cars regularly appear in China, which are recruiting the best specialists from recognized companies.
Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations head Mark Stanton recently stepped down to lead Human Horizons, a startup that showed off its first vehicle last month. The reason, according to the top manager, was that SVO did not become what he was striving for.
“The SVO division was supposed to be the pinnacle of the JLR model line, and from the very beginning it was so. I don’t want to talk badly about the JLR because I still have an affection for them and their product, but disappointments grew and grew. I could stay for another three or four years and resign, but I did not want to do this. I wanted to change direction and create something new, ” – Stant said in an interview with Autocar.
Another reason was his growing desire to produce efficient cars and help make electric cars widely available.
Recall that the first car from Human Horizons was introduced in late July. The novelty is called HiPhi 1 and has the form of a smooth six-seater SUV, which is equipped with a semi-autonomous system of the third level. It is assumed that the crossover will receive a battery capacity of 96 kW / h and will be able to drive up to 644 km.
