Head of Formula E presented an extreme series of racesFebruary 1, 2019
The new race on electric cars Extreme E will appear in motor sports in 2021 and will be held in the most exotic places of the planet.
The founders of the new championship were Alejandro Agag (general promoter of Formula E) and Gilles de Ferann (sports director of McLaren). Competitions will be held in the Arctic, the Sahara, the Himalayas, the jungles of the Amazonia and the islands of the Indian Ocean. Participants will compete in sporty off-road cars with electric motors in a format similar to the Race of Champions – paired round trips in two groups and the final part of the knockout.
De Ferann expressed enthusiasm for Extreme E: “This is a surprisingly exciting format! The championship offers a unique concept linking sport with adventure and fun. This has never been seen before. ”
Interestingly, the paddock of the race will be located on board the ship “Saint Helena”, which will transport participants and equipment to the competition venues.
But this is not all the news: if in normal racing live broadcast is meant, then in Extreme E it will not be. Tours will be filmed on camera, and then issued as a semi-documentary film, divided into several parts. The director will be Oscar winner Fisher Stevens.
