Haval unveils its new crossover Haval DaGou in ChengduJuly 25, 2020
The name of the new Chinese crossover translates as “Big Dog”. It is possible that under this name the crossover will be known only in the home market; for export, the brand will select something less extravagant.
In Chengdu, China, a major auto show has been launched, which promises many high-profile premieres. One of them is Haval’s new crossover, known as DaGou (or Big Dog).
They began to talk about this new product even before the premiere: it was reported that the crossover would be the successor to the “frame” Haval H5 – a relative of the Great Wall Hover. However, during the debut of Haval DaGou, it turned out that the car received a different design.
The brand presented an SUV with a monocoque body and a transverse engine. The novelty is based on a new platform, while the car shown in Chengdu was front-wheel drive. In terms of its dimensions, DaGou is similar to the Nissan X-Trail or Mitsubishi Outlander: it reaches 4,620 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,738 mm, width and height – 1,890 and 1,780 mm, respectively.
Inside the car, we see a digital “tidy”, modern multimedia with a touchscreen display, massive handrails, a special compartment for bottles in the doors, a two-story central tunnel and a convenient washer that acts as a traditional gear lever. Add all-round cameras, a spectacular panoramic roof and more.
So far, the crossover has received only a basic version: it got a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 169 hp, working in tandem with the “robot”. Later, Haval will prepare a more powerful version equipped with a new two-liter turbo four. Also in the future, it is planned to appear all-wheel drive with different off-road driving modes.
Chinese motorists can get access to the new product closer to winter. There is no talk of export yet.
