Haval first revealed successor HoverMay 27, 2020
The Chinese manufacturer has finally admitted that it is preparing to enter the market for the new H5 SUV, previously which could only be judged by spy images.
The first information about the new product appeared due to a certain computer presentation, and then the new SUV was twice noticed in tests in urban conditions. Today, for the first time, with the help of sketches, Haval showed what he was working on, and the only thing that exactly matches the spy photos is the radiator grill pattern and the shape of the headlights.
On the outline, the Haval H5 seems much shorter than a disguised car. Moreover, instead of a strongly protruding side line in the sketches, a stamping in the style of Geely Icon is visible, as well as a large number of plastic.
Particularly attention is drawn to the rear panel, where, according to the sketches, the lights will not be connected by a line of LEDs, as expected, but by a chrome strip. The sunroof disappeared from the roof, but the roof rack appeared. The brutal nature of the car is emphasized by huge wheels in wide arches.
According to Chinese Cars, the style of the SUV is the result of the work of Phil Simmons, who in 2018 took over as vice president of Great Wall Motors. Previously, he held a position at Jaguar Land Rover, where he worked on the new Defender, with which, perhaps, he will try to compete with the Haval H5 in the second half of this year. It is expected that the launch of the model will be timed to coincide with the Beijing Auto Show, which starts on September 26.
