Hatchback Suzuki will become ToyotaAugust 7, 2018
The first Suzuki model, which under the cooperation agreement will be produced under the Toyota brand, will be the hatchback Maruti Suzuki Baleno. According to the publication LiveMint, the company has already approved changes in the design, and also planned the start of production for April-June next year.
In addition to the new logo, the hatchback will receive other bumpers and a radiator grille, and head optics, corresponding to the corporate style of Toyota. Changes in the technical stuffing are not expected: the Indian Baleno is equipped with a 1.2-liter atmospheric (84 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque), a liter turbo engine (102 hp and 150 Nm torque) and a diesel engine of 1.3 liters (75 and 190 Nm moment). Boxes – five-speed manual transmission or variator.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between Toyota and Suzuki was signed at the beginning of last year. The partnership envisages not only the exchange of models, but also the joint development of power plants, as well as the use of production facilities. In addition, the companies intend to cooperate in the field of security and “green” technologies.
Under the Toyota brand in India, they will produce the Baleno hatchback and Vitara Brezza compact crossover. Sedan Toyota, on the contrary, will enter the market under the Maruti Suzuki brand. The machines will be different in design and, probably, in bundles.
