Harman unveils new electric car audio system at CES 2020January 6, 2020
A well-known car audio company has decided to “break into the electric car segment.” At the moment, this is the only proposal of this level and such an appointment.
The automotive industry is growing and Harman wants to keep up with the times. An innovative audio system was introduced at the CES 2020 Consumer Electronics Show. In fact, this is a set of solutions called EV Plus +, designed specifically for electric vehicles. They are characterized by low weight, energy efficiency, compact size, as well as new cloud technologies.
One of the first products was the Ecotect audio system, which provides “powerful sound with half the details.” This system is two times more efficient than the average traditional car audio system. If the weight of all elements of the system in modern cars is about 10 kg, then the new product from Harman weighs only 5 kg.
Ecotect features high-performance speakers, a Prodigy Booster amplifier and Power Manager 2.0 technology. The system also received a unique architecture that uses “new locations for speakers, environmentally friendly materials, and sophisticated signal processing to provide superior sound quality.”
One of the most interesting aspects of EV Plus + solutions is the new Audio Marketplace. Cloud service allows users to update their system, both in software and in hardware. In the company store you can order another set of speakers from companies such as Bang & Olufsen, Kardon or JBL.
Among the functions can be noted “Voice-Sensing Volume Fade”, which allows you to comfortably talk in the car. When the built-in computer recognizes speech, the volume automatically decreases, and then returns to the previous level.
