Hardcore Subaru WRX STI goes beyond Japan for the first timeJanuary 9, 2019
In Detroit, the Japanese brand will show a special version of the Subaru WRX STI S209
Subaru company has published a teaser for the new special version of the sedan WRX STI – S209. The hardcore “poems” public debut will take place at the Detroit Auto Show, and it will be the first S-modification to go beyond the Japanese market.
No technical information on the Subaru WRX STI is reported. According to rumors, this version may be more powerful than the WRX STI Diamond Edition, developed by the South African branch of the brand. Its 2.5-liter turbocharged “oppozitnik” produces 354 horsepower and 464 Nm of torque – by 54 forces and 57 Nm of torque more than the base machine.
From the usual S209 sedan differs extended wheel arches, canard on the edges of the front bumper and a massive rear wing, like the version of the Type RA. Model circulation will limit 400-500 copies.
The previous S-modification with an index of 208 entered the Japanese market in October 2017. The sedan was equipped with a 2.0-liter “turbo-suppressant” with a capacity of 329 forces and 432 Nm of torque, a system of spraying water on the intercooler and an exhaust system with reduced resistance. Also, the 208-th got adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers, perforated brake discs with Brembo monoblock calipers and a spacer between the front struts.
Subaru, along with the famous Japanese rally driver Toshihiro Arai, developed the WRX STI TC380 version. The sedan received a new HKS GT III RS Sport turbocharger, a HKS metal catalyst, an Arai Motorsport air filter and a carbon-fiber front spoiler.
