Hardcore McLaren 620R spotted by photo spiesOctober 13, 2019
McLaren will release the legal road version of the GT4 racing car, which will be offered to customers only on order.
McLaren has confirmed that it will build a GT4 racing car based on the 600LT, dubbed the 620R. Spy shots of the model, which is being tested for the first time, demonstrate the design associated with the ultra-exclusive 570S MSO X presented last year, featuring an aerodynamic package that is clearly adapted to the McLaren racing series.
Along with an outstanding rear spoiler and front splitter, an air bucket and new air intakes embedded in the hood are installed on the roof. Unlike the 600LT exhaust, the 620R changes include an exhaust system that exits through the bumper like a Woking GT4. In addition, the model received a specific wheel design, most likely from an ultralight material such as magnesium, as well as an individual suspension.
For the performance of the McLaren 620R, the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 meets the 600LT, but judging by the name of the car, it is expected that its power will be increased to 620 hp. The interior remains to be seen, but it is expected that the novelty will receive elements of racing specifications, such as bucket seats and six-point seat belts, and it will also lose unnecessary hardware and functions.
McLaren has not yet disclosed any details about the car, but a company representative confirmed its existence and said: “This is a car that will be offered for customers only by invitation.” It will be built in strictly limited quantities and is expected to cost significantly more than 600LT. More information should appear next year.
