Haas showed images of a new carFebruary 6, 2020
The Haas team published the first images of the machine in 2020. In the VF-20 color livery, the team returned to its traditional colors – gray, red and black, which the team abandoned last season in favor of the colors of their former title sponsor Rich Energy.
Today, the team’s press service published only the renderings of the new machine without any technical information. A real presentation is scheduled for the first day of tests in Barcelona – the novelty will be shown on February 19 at the pit lane of the Spanish track an hour before the tests.
The first to drive the VF-20 is Kevin Magnussen, and the next day he will be replaced by Roman Grosjean. On the third day of the first test series, both Haas riders will take turns working on the track.
Gunther Steiner, team leader: “It is always interesting to follow the creation and refinement of the new Formula 1 car, and the VF-20 should certainly give us what we did not receive from our previous car. Since the regulations did not change this year, we were able to better understand the machine and analyze our work in order to find solutions and use them in creating the VF-20.
Last year, we took a step back – I would not want this, but such situations become a lesson. We all made conclusions. Everyone in the team had to evaluate their work and find out what can be done better.
I look forward to the debut of the VF-20 on the track. As always, I want to do a lot on the tests, and, preparing for the first race of the new season in Australia, we will be glad if we go a long distance and show good reliability and speed. “
Gene Haas, founder and president of the Haas F1 Team: “I am glad to see that the car has returned to the more familiar colors of Haas Automation.
To be honest, I hope that with the VF-20 we will return to the form that we had in 2018 when we finished the season in 5th place in the Design Cup.
The season of 2019 was not easy. There was a process of real study, through this at a certain stage all the teams of Formula 1 go through. I believe that we have learned the necessary lessons and applied our knowledge, developing the VF-20 to make the car more competitive.
It is important for me that we can return to the fight and earn points steadily, we are certainly capable of it. ”
