Guys from BMW test the updated M3March 25, 2019
The high-performance version of the Bavarian sedan will have over 500 horsepower in its most powerful version. The official presentation will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show (Germany).
Not so long ago, the BMW M sports division introduced two new products – they were the “charged” X3 M and X4 M crossovers. Of course, it’s great – we have been waiting for these cars for a long time, but it’s not as interesting as the high-performance version of the BMW 3 Sedan -Series new generation. Our foreign colleagues kindly shared with us “spy” photos, which show that the prototype of the new product is still under camouflage. The official presentation of the car is expected at the September Frankfurt Motor Show (Germany).
Captured prototype, it seems, has a fully serial body and in particular the taillights, but the headlights seem temporary. A large amount of camouflage is located on the front grille and front bumper.
From the usual version of the sedan, this car is distinguished by convex arches, huge rims, rather big brakes and 4 tailpipes of the exhaust system. The car is also located closer to the road and has blue brake calipers, although they are also on the “heated” M340i / M340i xDrive.
The novelty will use the new 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged inline engine, as the aforementioned X3 M and X4 M. In the basic version, it will develop 473 hp (600 Nm), while in the M3 Competition this the figure will increase to 503 hp (600 Nm).
From the larger M5, the settings for the xDrive all-wheel drive system and the active damping system will be taken. BMW M3 will receive an 8-speed automatic transmission with double clutch.
