Great Wall and BMW will jointly develop and produce electric cars

The German concern and the Chinese giant are creating a new company in China, with equal shares of 50%. Spotlight Automotive Project will manufacture and sell vehicles using new power sources.

The press service of the Great Wall Motors company announced an agreement with the Bavarian concern BMW. Both companies will begin cooperation in the framework of creating a new enterprise. As part of the partnership, a new plant will be built, as well as a research center with a total investment of $700 000. The estimated capacity of the future plant will be about 160,000 cars.

 Both companies are going to collaborate in research, development, production, storage and sales around the world. It is already known for certain that the new plant will be engaged in the production of electric MINI. In addition, other BMW and Great Wall models will be assembled on its conveyor.

The agreement was signed in a festive atmosphere with the presence of representatives of the Chinese and German governments.
