Gordon Murray revealed similarities about his new sports modelMarch 8, 2019
Under the hood, the car will be a 3-cylinder engine manufactured by Ford. The new T.43 will cost “less than 40,000 pounds sterling”
Gordon Murray, who is the designer of the first supercar of the legendary British brand McLaren, plans to revive the iconic model with a jet engine. The car will receive the right to drive on public roads. It is known that the novelty will not appear until next year, and there is no doubt that when it goes on sale, it will be worth a fortune.
But this is not the only car brand IGM, which Murray founded in 2017. The development of a more compact, more affordable sports car with a medium engine and an internal factory code T.43. After disclosing the initial information about this project in September last year, Murray discussed further details with our colleagues from Road and Track at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
“I will tell you what it is. This is Lotus Elise, but you can use it every day. He has a roof. He has an air conditioner that works, a sound system, satellite navigation, airbags …
This is a segment of the market that is not just sparsely populated, it is practically empty at the moment, ”Murray said during an interview.
Of all the data that is known at the moment, we are really interested in the total weight of the car – less than 950 kg, and Murray promises the same ratio of power and weight as in the previous generation German Porsche 911 Carrera S. Under the hood, there will be a 3-cylinder Ford engine of just 215 horsepower, but Murray claims that this power will be more than enough for such a lightweight car. Of course, the engine will be mated to a manual transmission.
