GMC announces second electric pickup after Hummer EVJuly 20, 2021
GM is clearly not going to let Ford go ahead in the electrification race. The day before, the GMC brand confirmed to reporters that another full-size electric pickup will appear in its model line. And he will arrive at the “due time”.
Duncan Aldred, vice president of global sales for Buick and GMC, spoke to Automotive News about the appearance of a second electric pickup, in addition to the Hummer EV.
There are still few details about the future electric pickup. Moreover, Aldred did not answer the question of whether the announced pickup will bear the name of its counterpart with an internal combustion engine – GMC Sierra.
We know from inside information that the Silverado EV (let’s call it this before the official name announcement) will be produced alongside the Hummer EV at GM Factory Zero in Detroit. And most likely, the novelty will receive an advanced Ultium battery.
There is no information about the timing of the release of the second electric pickup.
It is possible that the novelty will be presented next year as a 2023 model. Without recharging, the novelty, according to forecasts of auto experts, will be able to travel about 644 kilometers, if you focus on the Silverado EV.
In any case, more interesting details about the new GMC electric pickup will appear in the coming months. We will follow the news of the automaker.
Previously, AutoTimesNews said that the 2022 Porsche Macan will debut with more power, but without the Turbo version. Now the top-end modification of the electric car has become the GTS, and the performance has not suffered.
