GM plans to introduce a large number of new SUVsAugust 1, 2020
After the presentation of the all-electric GMC Hummer truck, a large number of different SUVs will be presented, the CEO of the American concern GM said.
More recently, the press office of the American brand GMC presented a teaser for the all-electric Hummer truck. The teaser said that the debut of the long-awaited novelty will take place very soon. Now there is information that the management of the GM concern plans to present an even larger number of off-road models.
This became known during a press conference at which the automaker’s results for the 2nd quarter of 2020 were summed up. At this event, General Director of the American concern GM Mary Barra, said that the concern sees “great prospects” for the future of the Hummer truck. In addition, it became known that soon there will be more different SUVs, which will be released under the GMC and Chevy brands. Ms Barra also noted that SUVs are “as important to motorists as they once were.”
This does not mean at all that the same Hummer EV will directly compete with the Bronco SUV or the Jeep Gladiator pickup.
Most likely, the electric Rivian R1T and R1S, as well as the Tesla Cybertruck, will compete with the revised Hummer According to official figures, the electric Hummer will develop more than 1000 horsepower, and it will take three seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h. Representatives of the GMC company, under whose brand the Hummer truck will go on sale, have said many times that the truck will offer “remarkable off-road capabilities.”
The meeting also discussed the off-road version of the full-size Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The novelty will compete with the high-performance Ford F-150 Raptor as well as the Ram Rebel TRX. All off-road innovations from GM will be shown after the presentation of the GMC Hummer electric pickup.
