Wuling Hong Guang became China’s best-selling electric car in August, making a joint venture with General Motors

The Chinese brand Wuling, which is partially owned by General Motors, sold 15,000 Hong Guang Mini electric vehicles in August, Reuters reported. That’s more than the previous market leader, the Tesla Model 3 sedan.

Tesla was bought by 11,800 Chinese motorists. At the same time, the sedan from Elon Musk is more than twice as expensive as Wuling Hong Guang. Model 3 is asking for 291,800 yuan, and Hong Guang can be bought for 28,800 yuan, which corresponds to $ 4.2 thousand.[IP]&ua=[UA]&domain=[DOMAIN]&page=[PAGE]&secure=[SECURE]&language=[BROWSER_LANGUAGE]&bidfloor=[BIDFLOOR]&gdpr_consent=[GDPR_CONSENT]

We are talking about an ultra-compact car, which, nevertheless, can accommodate four not very tall passengers. Its engine power is only 17.4 hp. This is enough to somehow accelerate to a maximum of 100 kilometers per hour.

The manufacturer does not specify the capacity of the traction battery, but assures that the car can travel up to 170 kilometers on a single charge. This figure is obviously derived from the optimistic NEDC methodology. In real life, the mileage is probably 100-120 kilometers.

Hong Guang sales only started in July this year. The automaker says that in the very first weeks, about 45 thousand paid orders were collected.
