GM is developing a new supercharged 6.2L V8 engine for its trucks and SUVsMay 13, 2020
Judging by reports of a foreign publication, General Motors engineers are currently working on a new V-shaped engine with 8 cylinders and supercharging. It is not yet clear for which car the novelty is intended.
The American concern General Motors is allegedly developing a new 6.2-liter V8 engine, but it is unclear for which brand (this brand includes several brands) and the model it is intended for. Foreign publication The Fast Lane Truck quotes its anonymous source, which says that GM engineers are in full swing developing a new powertrain. The novelty will be intended for trucks and / or SUVs.
Unfortunately, there are few details about the new power plant, in addition to what an unofficial source said. However, a source told the publication that the engine could power a high-performance version of the Chevy Tahoe SS SUV. This motor can also be located under the hood of a high-performance Chevy Silverado ZRX pickup.
Rumors and numerous “spy” photos suggest that Chevy is preparing a more powerful version of the Colorado ZR2 (pictured). This new product is unlikely to appear before the 2022 model year – the regular version of the truck should be presented in 2021.
Now about the high-performance Chevy Tahoe. Chevy representatives have repeatedly said that the Tahoe in the RST version is unlikely to receive a powerful atmospheric 6.2-liter V8 rated at 420 horsepower. Well, the performance of the Tahoe SS may well be equipped with a new supercharged V8.
