GM is developing a 6.2-liter compressor V8May 17, 2020
The new engine will appear on SUVs and pickups
General Motors is developing a new 6.2-liter V8 engine with a supercharger that can come in handy for the powerful versions of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Silverado.
According to The Fast Lane Truck, citing its own source in the concern, GM is developing a 6.2-liter compressor V8. The models on which it will be used have not yet been announced, but it is known that these will be SUVs and pickups. Most likely, the engine will appear on the “charged” version of the new Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with the SS index, as well as a high-performance modification of the Silverado pickup called ZRX. The new generation Tahoe is equipped with a 6.2-liter atmospheric V8 rated at 425 horsepower, and there is no data on the SS version yet.
The Silverado pickup in the extreme version of the ZRX could compete with the “charged” pickups of the Ford and Ram brands. GM’s new 6.2-liter “compressor” V8 engine should receive power in the region of 650 horsepower. According to rumors, in the future it may appear on the sports modification of the co-platform SUV Cadillac Escalade. Finally, the boldest forecast is that the motor will come in handy for the Corvette crossover, if it, of course, ever comes true.
