German factory Tesla will produce up to 500 thousand electric cars per yearDecember 12, 2019
The first European Tesla plant will be built near Berlin. Model 3 and Model Y electric cars will stand on its conveyor.
Tesla Gigafactory 4 will be built near Berlin next to the new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport. The production capacity of the new enterprise is designed to produce half a million electric cars annually. This figure is called the German newspaper Bild. The European Tesla plant will be located on an area of approximately 300 hectares. For comparison, 420 football fields would immediately occupy a similar area. At the same time, the new enterprise will create about 10 thousand new jobs.
In the meantime, a forest is growing on the site of the new Gigafactory, which will have to be cut down. The American company has promised to compensate for the damage caused to nature by deforestation, planting in the vicinity three times more trees. The construction of the plant is scheduled for 2020, and the first production lines will be operational by the year 2021.
It is known that the new company will produce compact Model 3 electric cars and Model Y crossovers.
