German engineer Roland Gumpert – the founder of the bankrupt Gumpert company – will develop for the Chinese startup Aiways an electric supercar RG with a 1,200-kilometer power reserve. This is reported by the publication CarNewsChina.
The data on the power plant and the batteries of the novelty, which debuts at the end of April at the Beijing Motor Show, are not yet called. At the moment, it is only known that the electric car can accelerate from its place to 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds, and its maximum speed will exceed 300 km per hour.
The company Aiways has already started construction of its own enterprise in the city district of Shanghao. In addition to the supercar RG, the Chinese intend to produce crossovers, sedans and compacts. At the initial stage, the volume of production will be 150 thousand cars with the potential of the plant of 300 thousand cars per year.
Roland Gumpert, who worked for many years as the head of the sport division of Audi Sport, founded his own company Gumpert in 2001. The firm is known for the supercar Apollo, considered one of the fastest road cars in the world of those times. The coupe was equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 with two turbines, which in various versions produced from 650 to 800 horsepower. Apollo could accelerate from place to “hundred” in 3.1 seconds, and its maximum speed exceeded 360 km per hour. In 2013, Gumpert announced bankruptcy.
