German authorities demanded the recall of almost 60 thousand Mercedes, running on diesel fuelJune 23, 2019
According to the Bild publication, the Daimler carmaker was ordered to withdraw the Mercedes GLK 220 CDI model cars.
The decision was taken by the KVA – Federal Department of Motor Transport of Germany. The reason, according to TASS, is the use by the manufacturer of a software model during testing that underestimates the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases.
The German Ministry is going to test other models of Daimler-Benz power units, namely OM642 and OM65. The CPA accuses the carmaker of fraud and is going to take legal steps to restore legal justice.
In the summer of last year, German law enforcement agencies detained Rupert Stadler, the CEO of Audi AG, which was associated with a scandal around harmful diesel engine emissions from Audi cars. The latter, as is known, is included in the Volkswagen group, so it is not surprising that the company found itself at the center of unpleasant events after it became clear that the software of some diesel-powered vehicles produced by VW “can” indicators for the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere artificially underestimate.
