Genesis will release a compact premium crossoverJuly 3, 2019
South Korean brand confirmed the development of a new model
A senior Genesis manager announced the development of a compact crossover, which will be based on the rear-drive platform of the G70 sedan. The car will be shown at the end of 2021 or at the beginning of 2022.
Genesis Chief Operating Officer Erwin Rafael revealed details about the new off-road model of the premium brand. According to him, at first a large GV80 crossover, built on the G80 platform, will appear on the market, followed by a more compact car on the G70 platform. Following the logic of the company, the novelty can be called GV70.
According to unofficial information, crossovers will differ from platform sedans in the absence of monodrive modifications and versions with a manual transmission.
It became known earlier that the premiere of the GV80 will take place before the end of 2019, and the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE will be its main competitors on the market. The novelty will be offered with the same engines as the G80 sedan: a 3.8-liter engine with a capacity of 316 horsepower, a 3.3 turbo engine with 370 power output, and a five-liter V8 (426 power).
