Genesis will double its lineup in less than 12 monthsSeptember 29, 2020
Marc Del Rosso, CEO of Genesis’s North American dealership in the US, said the automaker will double its lineup in the next 12 months. New crossovers and sedans await us, and all-electric models are also expected.
Five years after its launch, the South Korean brand Genesis has managed to bring three premium sedans to the US market. The brand has also managed to come to the fore in terms of sales, with 21,233 new vehicles sold in 2019. In contrast, Genesis was able to sell 10,311 units in 2018, demonstrating 100 percent sales growth thanks to the popularity of the G70 compact sedan.
This is, of course, not enough for Genesis. During the debut of the 2021 GV80 crossover earlier this year, US CEO Mark Del Rosso said the brand would double its lineup in the next 12 months. This was discussed during a media webinar on Monday, according to a local Detroit newspaper.
The lineup expansion will be led mainly by the GV80, which is expected to reach its US dealers by the end of this year.
Alongside the GV80, a smaller crossover based on the G70 will appear in the next 12 months. These two models are intended to solidify Genesis’s position in the premium crossover market. An all-electric SUV is also in development. There are few details about the latter.
The second generation G80 sedan (codenamed RG3) is expected to hit showrooms at the automaker by next month.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that photos of a restyled Genesis G70 with an unusual red interior appeared on the network. The updated Genesis G70 was declassified two weeks ago, but there was only one photo of the salon in the official photo shoot.
