Genesis is working on a new electric SUVMarch 31, 2020
Information about the car at the moment is not so much. It is expected that its production will start next summer.
Korean premium car maker Genesis is gearing up to electrify its cars. One of the pioneers in this area should be an electric SUV, which currently has the code name “JW EV”. After the model is launched into production, the company’s management intends to produce about 22 thousand such machines a year. The SUV will be built on the E-GMP platform, which allows you to install fully electric motors.
After entering the market, the Genesis JW EV will compete with the Tesla Model X, Mercedes-Benz EQC and Audi E-Tron. At the same time, the novelty will receive a unique design that is significantly different from the current Genesis GV series. The Korean brand believes that it is the electric car that should now be the most modern car in the lineup. And given the positioning of the brand, the model will always find its buyer.
We note the effectiveness of the use of the new E-GMP platform – some Hyundai and KIA models will also be built on this cart, which will allow quickly recouping investments in development.
The battery capacity in this platform may be different – it depends on the type of vehicle used. For the new Genesis SUV, the most powerful battery will most likely be used, which will allow you to overcome more than 500 km on a single charge.
