Genesis is testing an updated version of the compact sedan G70May 24, 2020
A premium brand from South Korea is testing a camouflaged prototype of an updated version of the compact Genesis G70 sedan. The car will debut in the 2021 or 2022 model year.
Genesis is already working on an updated version of its compact G70 sedan – the update will be positioned as a facelift that will appear in the middle of the life cycle of the current generation of the model. A couple of minutes ago, our editorial office had “spy shots” from tests of the camouflaged prototype of the novelty – the car was spotted on the Nurburgring race track.
Interestingly, the G70 prototype was tested along with the updated Kia Stinger sports liftback.
We expect that the G70 will receive a “two-line” design, which is already a “calling card” for the Genesis brand – it is in this style of design that the updated G80 sedan and GV80 crossover are developed. The false radiator grille, which on the prototype is almost completely covered with camouflage, should become larger in size than the current version of the model.
Genesis confirmed that the updated G70 compact sedan will receive a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that will replace the current 2.0-liter engine. It is expected that the power of new items will be 290 horsepower (420 Nm). These are the same indicators as the high-performance Hyundai Sonata N-Line – these cars will receive the same engine. It is not yet clear whether the updated G70 will receive a manual gearbox.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that a new generation of Genesis GV70 images was shown on the Web. Less than six months are left before the premiere of the novelty. The crossover is growing in ever greater detail – now its main features have become clear.
