Genesis is preparing for the premiere of another electric supercarApril 1, 2019
The new concept with a fully electric power plant, the Genesis brand, promises to be demonstrated at an international exhibition in New York. This intention in an interview with CNET confirmed the head stylist of Hyundai Group Luc Donkervolke.
In the details, however, the designer did not hurry, so, in fact, it is not yet known even in which body the concept car will be made. However, it is highly likely that the new product will continue the course set by the prototype Genesis Essentia in 2018. A year ago, this concept was called the prototype of the most luxurious and expensive model of the premium brand, however, Essentia has not yet officially advanced on the way to mass production.
Thus, it is quite possible that at this exhibition, Koreans will demonstrate something more close to reality. On the other hand, it is possible that the new concept will become a completely independent model, which in the Genesis prototype table of ranks takes a place lower than Essentia.
Back in 2016, the leadership of Genesis expressed the intention to build a sports car on the platform of the G70 sedan – in fact, the youngest model in the lineup. Accordingly, a coupe at its base could compete, for example, with the BMW 4 Series. Last year’s concept seriously claimed to participate in the supercar segment: thanks to a power plant of several electric motors, the Essentia could accelerate to 100 km / h in about 3 seconds. At the same time, the Genesis brand is seen in close attention to the premium crossover segment, and it cannot be ruled out that in New York the company will demonstrate the prototype of a certain electric coupe.
