Genesis hints at the return of the powerful G80 Sport sedanOctober 4, 2020
According to a spokesman for the South Korean automaker, there is a strong possibility that the second generation of the Genesis G80 midsize sedan could receive a more powerful version, which will receive the Sport designation.
In a recent interview, Marc Del Rosso, President and CEO of Genesis North America, said the powerful Genesis G80 Sport sedan could return to the market. Apparently, the automaker’s management has heard its customers want to be able to purchase a more powerful performance of the midsize sedan again.
The first generation Genesis G80 Sport had the same 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as the KIA Stinger GT fastback, Genesis G70, Genesis G90, KIA K9.
With 365 horsepower, the G80 Sport was pretty fast. Its twin-turbo V6 engine was mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and had a more aggressive exterior design that set it apart from the regular G80 sedan.
The second-generation Genesis G80 is known to ditch its 5.0-liter V8 in favor of a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces an impressive 375 horsepower.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Genesis published the first official photos of the GV70 crossover. The car is still covered with a layer of camouflage film, but it can be seen in more detail than in spy shots.
