Hyundai’s premium sub-brand has finally decided to declassify the first official images and details of its new luxury SUV.
With the Genesis GV80 SUV, fans of the brand have been familiar with in absentia for several months already: spy photos from new tests, as well as intriguing renderings, regularly hit the Web. Now, a few hours before the onset of the new decade, Genesis has published the first official photos of a luxury SUV. Pictures published by foreign portal carscoops.com. Recall, the GV80 Concept debuted at the New York Auto Show back in 2017. The appearance of this show car was worked by specialists from Genesis Design studios in South Korea, the USA and Germany.
The Genesis novelty manages to look sporty and sophisticated at the same time, although many experts still advise the brand to think again about the design of the radiator grille, returning to the serial SUV a thinner and more elegant grille of the concept car.
Another design innovation, in addition to the new massive pentagonal shaped radiator grille, is stylish quadrangular optics.
When decorating the interior, new items in Genesis decided not to overload the control panel: the SUV receives the required minimum of physical buttons. At the same time, he relies on a new climate control with a touch screen and advanced multimedia with a large touchscreen. The official pictures also show a virtual dashboard, but we remember the analogue from the old photos. Probably her brand has been reserved for the home market.
The Genesis GV80 does not have a traditional gear lever. His place was taken by an electronic selector. The layout of the interior of the novelty can be two or three-row. As for the motor range of the new product, experts are talking about three power plants.
At the start of sales, customers will be offered a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel with a capacity of 274 hp, combined with 8AKPP. The first 100 kph cars with such an engine will pick up in 6.8 seconds. Later, the company will make him a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a return of 300 hp. For the role of the “older” power plant, the manufacturer chose a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, issuing 375 hp. With it, the car accelerates to “hundreds” in 5.7 seconds. The launch of the Genesis GV80 is scheduled for 2020. On the home market, it will go on sale in January.
