Another batch of spy shots of the Korean flagship sedan Genesis G90 has appeared on the web.

Photospin again spotted the prototype of the new Genesis G90 during trials in South Korea. The new images show for the first time production headlights that resemble what we saw in the GV60. It has been confirmed that the next generation of the G90 will be equipped with a Level 3 autonomous driving system consisting of a camera and two lidar radar, scheduled for release by the end of 2021.

We also know that the 5.0-liter V8 will continue, and the premium Korean brand’s flagship sedan will receive air suspension for the first time.

The LiDAR dual-radar system will enable Level 3 autonomous driving based on a control algorithm developed by Hyundai Motor, in addition to the existing camera radar sensor. On the other hand, the new generation G90 will be equipped with two radars on both sides of the front of the vehicle for more advanced autonomous driving. In addition, more accurate work is possible even in cloudy weather.

“When equipped with a single radar, the autonomous driving function is focused on the front, but installing two radars in the front is beneficial for implementing more comprehensive Level 3 such as side detection of the vehicle,” the experts say.

Hyundai HW camera, radar and lidar, three groups of sensor devices are combined into a single algorithm, and various sensor signals generated while driving are combined to provide an independent control algorithm that makes the optimal decision.

The Genesis G90 with Level 3 autonomous driving will be released in late 2021. The new G90 is expected to be an important opportunity for Hyundai to lead technological advances in autonomous driving in the future.
