Genesis G70 will no longer be equipped with a manual transmissionJuly 23, 2020
Spy photos of the car, as well as some details about the new product, have already appeared on the web. New technical details have now become known.
Genesis is gearing up to debut the facelifted 2021 G70 sedan. On Thursday, July 23, some details about the new product became known. Most likely, the G70 will no longer receive a manual transmission. Previously, there was information that the 2021 sedan will be the last with a manual transmission. However, this apparently will not happen.
The main reasons for the abandonment of a manual transmission were a decrease in sales of cars with such a transmission, as well as a change in the line of power units. Recently, the Genesis G70 with manual transmission accounted for only 5% of the total sales of the model. In addition, the new Genesis G70 is unlikely to have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and the manual transmission is unlikely to be able to cope with the high torque of the 3.3-liter V6 engine.
The base engine for the Genesis G70 should be a 2.5-liter engine and it should work with an automatic transmission.
Previously, an updated G70 car was seen on tests. Despite the dense layer of camouflage, we managed to see the main thing – the car has a Shooting Brake body. Thus, Genesis G70 will no longer be just a sedan.
