Genesis first serial crossover seen on testsJanuary 25, 2019
The premiere of the Genesis GV80 serial crossover, which will compete with the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5, will be held in the fall of 2019
Hyundai’s premium division, Genesis, launched its first serial crossover for testing. Spy photos from the test published the publication Motor1. According to him, the novelty, like the concept, will be called GV80. The premiere of the car is likely to be held this fall. The crossover must compete with the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.
Judging by the pictures, the design of the production model will repeat the concept of the same name. From the prototype, the car will inherit the grille, massive wheel arches and optics. In this case, the car is different from the concept of traditional exterior mirrors and sidewalls of the body.
The technical characteristics of the novelty are kept secret. According to unofficial data, the car will receive a 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine and four-wheel drive. A 3.3-liter turbo engine and a 5.0-liter V8 unit are also expected.
Under the hood of the concept, which was presented at the New York Auto Show in 2017, there was a power unit operating on fuel cells. However, details about it were not disclosed.
As previously reported, by 2020 the Genesis model line will consist of at least six models. In the future, another crossover and sports coupe will be developed under the Genesis brand.
