Genesis announces new car premiere in New YorkApril 15, 2019
Hyundai’s premium brand, Genesis, plans to bring its new model to the auto show in New York, which will open on April 16, 2019. All information about the car is kept secret. The company only published a teaser video that does not disclose any details about the future car.
It is not excluded that at the motor show the serial version of the first Genesis crossover called GV80 will be demonstrated to the public. The car must compete with the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5. The design of the serial model will repeat the concept of the same name. According to unofficial data, the car will receive a 3.8-liter gasoline engine V6 and four-wheel drive. A 3.3-liter turbo engine and a 5.0-liter V8 unit are also expected.
However, according to Motor1, the G80 is unlikely to debut in New York. The premiere of this car should be expected closer to the fall of this year. Therefore, the publication believes that at the showroom Koreans will present the concept of a future electric car. It is expected that the premiere of the production version of this machine will take place no earlier than 2021. In the same year, the Korean company will show an environmentally friendly car, the range of which should exceed 500 kilometers.
Perhaps the novelty of the motor show will be the serial version of the conceptual coupe Essentia. Almost all the solutions demonstrated on the prototype may be reflected in the production version of the machine. The exception will be the doors in the style of “butterfly wings”, which will replace the usual.
As previously reported, by 2020 the Genesis model line will consist of at least six models. In the future, another crossover and sports coupe will be developed under the Genesis brand.
