The American concern published a video and an image of a drone ready for serial production.
The novelty is called Cruise AV, it is based on the electric Chevrolet Bolt. In the interior of the model there is no steering wheel and pedals, that is, the control is completely carried out by the computer. UAV is equipped with 21 radar, five laser range finders LiDAR and 16 cameras. Information about the power plant manufacturer did not provide.
The GM said that an unmanned vehicle could appear in the States already in the next year, it is planned to be used in the services of ridersharing. The concern has sent a request for the operation of Cruise AV on public roads to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
As noted by foreign media, at the moment for the movement of such cars on American roads there is an obstacle. So, all cars presented in the US must have a driver’s airbag in the steering wheel. GM also proposes to install “airbag” in the torpedo.
Another American auto giant, Ford, is preparing for the release of the drone. Earlier Ford announced that their novelty would be completely original model, which will receive a hybrid installation.
