Buick and Chevrolet revealed compact crossovers for the US market
Concern General Motors introduced in Los Angeles a couple of new low-cost SUVs for the US market. Chevrolet Trailblazer and Buick Encore GX debuted with a basic front-wheel drive and “turbo-trips” with a working volume of 1.2 and 1.3 liters under the hood. In size, both crossovers are slightly larger than the Renault Kaptur: length – about 4.4 meters.
Initially, the twin-platform twins Chevrolet and Buick made their debut in the Chinese market – versions for the Celestial Empire differ in bumpers, chassis, engine range and equipment. Under the hood of the basic versions for the United States, a three-cylinder 1.2 engine with a capacity of 139 horsepower is combined with a CVT. Top modifications can be equipped with a 157-horsepower 1.3 engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with a rear axle clutch.
From the start of sales, Americans will have access to “warmed-up” off-road equipment with a sports body kit, a large cross-section of the grille, an original exhaust system and special accents in the cabin. The Chevrolet Trailblazer is called RS performance, the Buick Encore GX – Sport Touring.
In addition, the Chevrolet provides an “off-road” Activ equipment with special tuning of shock absorbers for rough terrain, 17-inch Hankook Sport Terrain tires and a black roof.
The Buick SUV is positioned as more expensive, and in the basic configuration Encore GX is equipped with richer. The list of standard options includes auto-braking, adaptive optics, a lane control assistant, an infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging of mobile devices. You can also order a projection display for Buick.
US sales of the Buick Encore GX will begin in early 2020. Prices will be announced later. Chevrolet Trailblazer debuts in spring. It is expected that at the start of sales Trailblazer will cost about 20 thousand dollars.
