General Motors showed a budget competitor wagon Skoda OctaviaMay 15, 2020
As a low-cost alternative to the popular “Czech” is the new Baojun RC-5 station wagon from General Motors and SAIC.
Baojun RC-5, considered a direct rival to the Skoda Octavia station wagon, is based on an advanced modular R-platform. This model is also presented in the body of the liftback – the presentation of the novelty was held in April. In length, the Chinese station wagon reaches 4,685 mm with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. The drive is front-wheel drive, and the only one and a half liter turbo-four with a return of 147 hp acts as a motor. Such an engine is combined with a 6MKPP or CVT. In the combined cycle, Baojun RC-5 spends about 6.2 liters for each “hundred” of the run.
In the interior of the “state employee” we see a 2-spoke steering wheel with a bar, a rather stylish front panel, as well as a digital dashboard visually combined with a large multimedia touchscreen (in the top version). The manufacturer “spied” such a design decision on the new Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Already in the basic version, Baojun RC-5 receives a pair of airbags, ABS and ESC, as well as parking sensors. The top station wagon is equipped with climate control, video surveillance cameras, a leather interior, a glass roof with a sunroof, etc. In China, the liftback and Baojun RC-5 station wagon will appear this summer. Prices are still preliminary – from 63,800 yuan
